Job Summary
The Senior Commercial Engineer / Commercial Engineer will manage post-contract commercial activities from project award through final handover and close-out. The role covers cost control, variations, IPAs, IPCs, claims, FIDIC contract administration, payment follow-up, cash flow, final accounts and commercial documentation for MEP projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all post-contract commercial activities from project award through final handover and close-out.
- Administer, prepare and track Interim Payment Applications and Interim Payment Certificates until certification, approval and payment collection.
- Monitor project cash flow through proper invoicing, certification and collection follow-up.
- Prepare, evaluate and negotiate Variation Orders with cost estimation, impact analysis and supporting documentation.
- Identify, manage and resolve payment delays, under-certification and discrepancies through contractual correspondence.
- Develop detailed cost breakdowns, rate analysis and remeasurement aligned with site progress and contractual provisions.
- Review and interpret contract terms, conditions and clauses to protect the company’s commercial interests.
- Apply FIDIC contract knowledge for variations, claims, EOT, payments and final accounts.
- Prepare and manage commercial claims, including entitlement assessment, substantiation and agreement with the Main Contractor.
- Track project costs, budgets and forecasts against financial targets.
- Coordinate with engineering, planning and site teams to validate progress, quantities and supporting records.
- Use AutoCAD for drawing review and quantity verification, and PlanSwift for accurate quantity take-offs.
- Maintain commercial records including logs for payments, variations, claims and contractual correspondence.
- Participate in commercial meetings with stakeholders to resolve project issues.
- Ensure effective commercial close-out, final account preparation, reconciliation and settlement of outstanding financial matters.

- Strong MS Excel skills for commercial tracking, cost analysis and reporting.
- PlanSwift experience for quantity take-offs is preferred.
