We Are Hiring: Estimation Engineer (Mechanical & Chemical)
We are seeking an experienced Estimation Engineer (Mechanical & Chemical) with strong exposure to cost estimation, tender preparation, and technical proposal development for engineering and manufacturing projects within the Oil & Gas, Power, and process industries.
Location: Musaffah, Abu Dhabi
The Estimation Engineer (Mechanical & Chemical) is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, technical proposals, and tender submissions for engineering, manufacturing, and process-industry projects. This role requires strong analytical capability, deep technical knowledge in mechanical and chemical systems, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure competitive, compliant, and profitable project execution.

- Analyze project plans, specifications, P&IDs, mechanical drawings, and technical documents to prepare accurate and timely cost estimates.
- Develop cost models for mechanical equipment, chemical process systems, thermal systems, and fabrication works.
- Prepare BOQs, cost breakdowns, and detailed estimation reports aligned with project and tender requirements.
- Identify discrepancies in drawings or specifications and propose technical and commercial solutions.
- Work closely with project managers, design engineers, and procurement teams to define project scope, timelines, and budget constraints.
- Provide technical support during tendering, procurement, and project execution phases.
- Coordinate with production and fabrication teams to validate cost assumptions and ensure feasibility.
- Interpret PFDs, P&IDs, and chemical process specifications.
- Estimate costs for process equipment such as heat exchangers.
- Evaluate chemical material requirements, process utilities, and safety considerations.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations.
- Evaluate vendor proposals for technical compliance and commercial competitiveness.
- Maintain updated knowledge of market pricing trends for materials, equipment, and fabrication services.
- Monitor project expenses and adjust estimates as needed to ensure profitability.
- Support tendering activities by preparing both technical and commercial proposals.
- Maintain a database of historical costs, supplier pricing, and estimation benchmarks.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in engineering projects, thermal systems, chemical process industries, heat transfer equipment, or manufacturing environments.
- Strong expertise in mechanical and chemical cost estimation, tendering, and proposal preparation.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, PFDs, BOQs, and technical specifications.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, MS Excel, and relevant estimation software/tools.
- Solid understanding of mechanical and chemical equipment, materials, and fabrication processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Effective communication and coordination with engineering, procurement, and production teams.
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
