About Company:

Savola was established in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 1979 with about 200 employees and capital shares worth 40 million Saudi riyals. Savola was then a small company that imported vegetable oils and purified them before selling them in the local market. But we followed the path of successful companies and set a clear vision that defines the future of our company, and we decided to be a leading strategic investment group in the region, and to achieve profits for shareholders and investors.

The following decades witnessed hard work and dedication, which resulted in further growth and progress, followed by further expansion and diversification of investments. Of course, in the beginning we faced strong competition from already established international companies, but we were keen to learn about the needs and preferences of our consumers, and we succeeded, thank God, in establishing our name in the market. In-depth research on the commodity market also helped us reduce costs and increase profit margins. The year 1994 witnessed Savola entering the sugar market and investing in the first sugar refining plant in Jeddah. The factory's production capacity then reached 500,000 tons per year. We also focused on expanding the scope of food sector operations to include Egypt, Algeria, the Levant, Iran and Sudan.

Then, within a few years, we took another bold step towards diversifying our investment portfolio by entering the retail sector and acquiring the Azizia Panda United Stores Group in 1998. We were able to raise the status of the already distinguished Panda brand and benefit from its real estate holdings. At the same time, we also purchased minority shares in companies operating in sectors related to our work, such as Almarai, Herfy and Kenan companies, and we entered into strategic investments in sectors outside the scope of our two core business sectors.
