Responsibilities

• Assign codes to medical diagnoses and procedures using the latest coding guidelines and standards, such as ICD-10 and CPT.
• Review medical records, including physician notes, lab reports, and diagnostic tests, to determine the appropriate codes to be assigned.
• Ensure that coding is accurate and meets all regulatory and compliance requirements.
• Work closely with healthcare providers, billing specialists, and other stakeholders to resolve coding-related issues.
• Stay up-to-date with changes to coding guidelines and regulations, and implement changes as needed.
• Participate in quality assurance, audits and improvement initiatives related to coding.
• Provide training and education to healthcare providers and staff on coding guidelines and best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, nursing, or a related field.
• Certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or other relevant coding certification.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical coding, preferably in hospital within Abu Dhabi or the UAE with in-patient and urgent care.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT and DRG coding guidelines and standards.
• Familiarity with medical terminology and procedures.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to work accurately under tight deadlines.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with other departments and stakeholders.
