MECHANIC ASSISTANT

Job Description

To assist Mechanics in carrying out maintenance activities on all type of Company vehicles and other related general maintenance activities of the plant as per prescribed procedures.

Shall follow the instructions of the mechanic or Supervisor for their day-to-day jobs. The laborers shall go and check each piece of equipment as per the instruction.

They will maintain all the equipment under the guidance and help of the mechanic. Shall follow all the Safety Instructions and shall always follow the safe work Practices.

Principal Accountabilities

• Assist Mechanics in all vehicle mechanical maintenance activities.
• Carrying out tire change and repair as per standard procedure and direction.
• Assist in Break & Axle service as per standard instruction and procedure.
• Vehicle wash and greasing as per instruction.
• Responsible for general cleaning, housekeeping in Garage.
• Assist in Garage equipment maintenance and upkeep.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• A high school graduate (10 years of formal education) with 5 years work experience in a Vehicle Workshop or related field. 
• Good interpersonal skills
• Fair communication skills. Ability to read and follow instructions in English

QEHS

• Ensures that work place hazards are reported to the Supervisor.
•  Participates in fire drills and other emergency procedures.
• Takes appropriate emergency measures when required

Knows the Company’s and Environment, Health & Safety Policy, Procedures, Regulations and Objectives as they relate to his/her area of responsibility and ensure that they are effectively implemented in his/her domain. Ensures by appropriate monitoring and review, the work under his control is performed in a safe and environmentally sound manner.
